3106, Skinner, Watertown, MA

Sold!

What a spectacular opporunity.

$75,000 (plus OCH 10% fee)

The Skinner Organ Company, Opus 459 (1924)

Mr. Skinner’s company built its first four-manual organ in 1902 for Grace Church, New York, NY. Opus 459 in Watertown, MA is the 103rd four-manual instrument in 22 years. Of course some of those organs are large heroic organs. This one, like many others, is relatively small (34 ranks), but features four expressive divisions (Swell, Choir, Solo, Echo), nine reeds (including Skinner’s signature Tuba, English Horn, French Horn), three Celestes (two of which start at CC), and twenty-one manual ranks with 73 notes. It’s a brilliant scheme providing lots of variety of tone, and seemingly infinite contrasting combinations.

The organ is not playable - it hasn’t been used for six years - but it’s in immaculate restorable condition. Tuning scrolls are neat and intact, walkboards are clear and easy to manage, the chambers are neat and orderly showing that the instrument has always received first-class care.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you arranging your visit to this exceptional organ.
